The power of honoring the lineage

Vinyasa Yoga is rooted in the traditional lineage of Ashtanga, taught in India in the first half of the 20th century and which later became popular in the West.  Vinyasa Yoga is a modern style of yoga that does not have an official founder, however, as it has its origins in the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga tradition, it is a style based on the teachings of Sri Krishnamacharya, an important Indian yogi.

It is based on several Sanskrit texts by illustrious yogis, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is one of the most important texts that explain in detail the 8 pillars of Yoga (Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi).

Yoga is a vast deep world and in our classes, we will try to understand it a little better at every step to integrate the benefits of this ancient practice into our lives.

Vinyasa is a term that derives from Sanskrit. Translated "vi" means special form and "nyasa" to place/direct, that is, to place in perfect harmony. Vinyasa Yoga is a style of Yoga with roots in India and influenced by Yoga master Krishnamacharya (1888-1989). It is a dynamic and fluid yoga style that allows you to create internal peace and external purification of the body through the synchronization of breath and movement.

Vinyasa Yoga thus aims to connect each posture (asana) with conscious and deep breaths (pranayama), moving the body consciously through sequences and movements coordinated by inhalation and exhalation. It is a style accessible to everyone, which allows us to reduce stress levels, reconnect body and mind promote self-knowledge, increase our own body and emotional awareness, and bring attention to the present moment.

Yoga is thus a holistic practice that goes beyond the mat, allowing us to create tools capable of sustaining us throughout our lives.

It is important to know the lineage behind the current practice of Yoga as this allows us to truly understand the meaning of yoga and its principles. Yoga is a holistic practice for everyone that aims to bring mental clarity and complete well-being of the body/mind/spirit, not being associated with any cult or religion.
